Prof. Dr. John Haldon Visits MSKÜ: Simultaneous Translation at the Event
Prof. Dr. John Haldon—one of the leading scholars in Late Antique and Byzantine history; Director of the Climate Change and History Research Initiative (CCHRI) at Princeton University; and a prominent researcher in medieval Eastern Roman (Byzantine) and environmental history—met with students at MSKÜ. At the conference held on Wednesday, 19 November 2025, at the Atatürk Cultural Center, the talk titled “Can History Help Policy? Past Societal Adaptation to Climate Challenges and What That Means for Policy Today” was interpreted by Research Assistant Fatma Yücel Dinç. On Thursday, 20 November 2025, the presentation titled “Mixing Methods: How Climate Data Meets Historical Archives — Inside the Historian’s Kitchen: Blending Climate Proxies with Texts and Archaeology” was translated by Assist.
